I'm 50% of original contemporary act Milton Hide and whilst I have a deep love of traditional music, I don't stick to one style with my writing. I've been influenced by everything I've heard through my life. Folk, pop, rock, classical, political, social conscience, love songs are all present in my catalogue. Now many of my songs are co-written with my band mate (and wife) Jo Church, Jo often providing the idea and some lyrics and me adjusting and introducing melody and chords, etc.
My guitar playing has developed along similar lines with influences such as Doc Watson and Steve Howe's The Clap, I love ragtime but i also love the rhythm and dynamics of Martin Carthy's playing and the energy of rock and punk when required.
I'm available for collaborations and gigs as an accompanist.
